Overview
About the Middle East Green Initiative
The Middle East Green Initiative was announced during the first Middle East Green Initiative Summit, held on October 25, 2021, in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The initiative aims to establish a platform for regional cooperation to reduce land degradation, enhance the protection of vegetation cover, and strengthen international support for regional efforts.
The initiative works to facilitate cooperation and provide support to regional member states in Central Asia, West Asia, South Asia, North Africa, and Sub‑Saharan Africa to address land degradation, enhance land restoration, and protect vegetation cover in forests, rangelands, agricultural lands, and other vegetated areas through nature‑based solutions and ecosystem‑based approaches.

Our Mission
To lead collective regional action to reduce land degradation, restore degraded lands, and conserve vegetation cover by adopting nature‑based solutions, mobilizing financial and technical support, and strengthening cooperation among member states and international partners.
